Why Take Out Our Tax Fee Protection Scheme?

Tax fee protection, also known as tax investigation insurance protects you from the costs of a tax investigation by HMRC.

The UK government recently announced an investment of over £100m into a task force that will be focused on tax investigations. This is to combat the estimated £3.5bn fraudulent claims made relating to Covid-19 support packages, among other tax offences.

This task force will target claimants of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, the Self-employment Income Support Scheme and bounce back loans. 

The investigation can be detailed and very time-consuming, which means that even if no extra tax is payable the cost to your business can be substantial. However, with our tax fee protection scheme, the cost of our time is covered by your premium.

The Tax Fee Protection Scheme provided by K.A.Farr & Co Tax means that if you are selected by HMRC for a tax enquiry, we will robustly defend you against any unjustified questions.

Wherever HMRC undertakes any checks and it is necessary for us to be involved, the enquiry will be covered by our Tax Fee Protection Scheme (subject to the normal terms and conditions).  As you would expect where a claim is fraudulent or contains significant inaccuracies it will not be covered by the scheme.
